Senior Research Scientist - Sensory

Executes Sensory Projects: Plans and executes sensory experiments using sound experimental design; applies optimal sensory resources to maximize data output; mentors junior scientists & technicians, manages, leads, recruits and trains 7-9 trained descriptive panelists ensuring reliable results through regular assessment; Drives cross-platform collaboration: Interfaces with key internal stakeholders and external customers to provide clear and timely communication and interpretation of research findings; engages with product development teams to identify opportunities where sensory benefits can be demonstrated clearly; collaborates with global sensory team to enhance regional sensory capabilities; Contributes to the development and application of new techniques and methodologies sensory research; Assesses gaps in current practice and implement approaches to improve efficiency, clarity, accuracy, and reproducibility of sensory study and data analysis; Identifies insights and trends from metadata analysis, builds predictive model, and create interactive toolkit; Reviews scientific literatures and keeps up with the new trend, technology, regulation, and methodology in sensory evaluation; Protects intellectual properties by following policies and best practices in knowledge management, IP execution, and information sharing. Promotes innovative expertise of Tate & Lyle by presenting research findings in Science and Education Outreach events and scientific conferences.

Requirements – Ph.D. or foreign degree equivalent in Sensory, Food Science or a related field and experience with sensory analytical methods (descriptive, discrimination, consumer testing); sensory data collection systems (Compusense); statistical analysis software (SAS, JMP, XLSTAT or R). Also acceptable - Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Sensory, Food Science or a related field and three years of experience in the job offered. Special skills - Experience with sensory analytical methods (descriptive, discrimination, consumer testing); sensory data collection systems (Compusense); statistical analysis software (SAS, JMP, XLSTAT or R)
