Job Summary:

As a Lead UX Designer on Neogen’s Design team, you’ll be responsible for: defining the value, designing the value, and delivering the value that captures meaningful customer experience to drive business growth and humanize innovative experiences; independently manages and leads multiple major new design programs, redesign programs or continuous improvement projects within the assigned business or function; work with internal teams and/or external design agencies to manage design projects from initial strategy to development to deliver relevant solutions rooted in user research; work with well-defined approaches, systems, and processes while providing best-in-class UX/UI design methodologies and leadership to elevate our designers and partners to drive design excellence; continue professional development by handling variety of non-routine and difficult inquiries and projects of strategic scope and complexity that advances integral design skills and thought leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Driving UX strategy, design systems, and end-to-end approaches with cross-functional project teams balancing business objectives with end-user needs
• Leading and facilitating in-person and virtual workshops, user research, contextual ethnography, usability testing, and confidently delivering strategic recommendations
• Defining and designing key interface behaviors through design research, information architecture, experience models, personas, storyboards, site maps, flow diagrams, wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, user testing and UI visual design
• Ability to create interactive design prototypes using tools such as Axure, Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or HTML/JS/CSS
• Strategic and persuasive in delivering digital connected solutions exceeding market and user expectations driving growth for our company and advancing our innovations
• Supporting developer hand-offs, including performing design QA
• Driving accessibility and usability guidelines
• Supporting multiple design programs, redesign efforts, or continuous improvement projects in a dynamic, diverse environment while meeting timely deadlines
• Collaborating with and mentoring other design disciplines and multiple functions to craft a design thinking and human-centered approach to digital innovation

Education and Experience

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Neogen requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (Completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
• Five (5) years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, UI designer, UX researcher or UX strategist with experiences in designing solutions for desktop, web, SaaS, and mobile applications on variety platforms.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• M.S. in Design Strategy, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 7-10 years of experience as a UX practitioner (e.g., UX strategist, researcher, UX designer, interactions designer, UI designer, information architect)
• Experience with creating data mining and analytics for web-based applications and products, mobile applications for iOS and Android, and Linux.
• Experience working collaboratively with product managers and developers in various settings and strong communication skills with the ability to articulate positions and advocate for designs.
