As an ADA Specialist, you will bring your passion for Banner Health Team Members and your heart for serving to a broad range of Employee Relations situations. You will help to support the Labor Relations Teams.
This position is a part of a team that handles ADA Accommodations and Placements for the Banner System. This position will be responding to questions from team members, leaders, and HR throughout the organization while handling complex cases. You will provide guidance to ensure ADA compliance and team member engagement. The work schedule is 8 hours, M-F -OR- and option of 9/80 – 4 days one week (9-hour shifts – off Friday), 5 days another week (4/9-hour shifts, 1/8-hour shift), and will alternate a set schedule with the other ADA Specialists once you have completed training.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for engaging in the enterprise-wide interactive process with team members and leaders requesting a workplace accommodation. This position ensures compliance with all federal and state regulatory requirements for job placement and provides and facilitates solutions to support accommodation needs. Develops and uses tracking and metric resources to document cases. This role directly liaises with legal, regulatory, human resources and external agencies.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Engages in the interactive process with team members, team leaders and applicants in their requests for accommodations.
2. Documents all actions and interactions within the interactive process via the internal Case Management system. Compile, prepare, maintain and analyze various reports/data for HR leadership.
3. Assists in administration of returns from leaves of absence and coordinate with benefits liaison and third-party administrator on escalated disability issues. Work with HR Shared Services, Benefits, Payroll and other centralized work teams to process and administer client requests on a daily basis.
4. Works closely with HR and Recruiters to identify employment opportunities.
5. Strategizes with HR advisory to proactively coordinate and manage impacted participants.
6. Guides and influences team leaders on effective reasonable accommodation management, interactive dialogue, and implementation of accommodations.
7. Acts as a subject matter expert and resource to team leaders and HR partners regarding accommodation/work restriction issues and processes. Provides advice & counsel as appropriate and acts as a liaison between all parties when necessary. Provides ADA specific education to HR partners, team leaders and team members.
8. Ensures compliance with employment laws, regulations and policies related to accommodation and disability issues; participates in relevant policy development as appropriate.
9. This position interacts with a multitude of directors, managers, HR Partners and staff throughout the system. The diversity of areas includes department or other Banner executives, operational management and staff, staff and contracted physicians and clinicians, executives and managers with external partners or companies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Two years of experience in human resources or any equivalent of education and experience.
Knowledge or exposure to recruitment systems, benefits and other areas of Human Resources is a requirement. Ability to exercise good judgment and be sensitive to employee needs while balancing the goals of the company. Strong verbal, written analytical and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail, strong organization skills, ability to prioritize and work independently, critical thinking skills.
Specialized understanding or training in career development, resume writing and interviewing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One year experience facilitating the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) interactive process, including analyzing documentation, conducting meetings and implementing accommodations. Familiarity with FMLA, knowledge of statutes, regulations, and guidance issued by the EEOC pertaining to ADA accommodations.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
