As part of L-Acoustics’ Software Leadership, the Director of the Software Products Development Department will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of commercial software products. This role involves managing product development teams (software engineering, UX/UI design), collaborating with stakeholders, coordinating with other departments across the company and ensuring the successful launch and maintenance of software products.

More precisely, the Director of Software, Product Development will be accountable for :

Software products development

He/she will:

  • Oversee the development of L-Acoustics portfolio of software products, while ensuring the alignment with the company strategy.
  • Ensure product quality, on-time delivery and performance standards.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks and risks, suggests trade-offs, drives the resolution forward.
  • Champion development methodologies best suited for the project (Scrum or other).
  • Foster a spirit of customer centric development and quick learning.
  • Set best practices for coding standards, review process, code modularization and re-use.
  • Ensure that code maintenance tasks are planned and resolved, minimize code debt.

Product discovery and innovation

He/she will:

  • Set best practice for Discovery process and moments within Software and design teams.
  • Foster forward-thinking mindset within product teams.
  • Ensures teams ownership and autonomy in solving problems.

Department management

He/she will:

  • Structure and lead a department of various software engineering, design and test teams.
  • Manage budget and distribution of resources.
  • collaborate with team managers to ensure training and professional growth of team members.
  • Oversee hiring within the department.
  • Promote a customer-centric mindset within the product development teams.
  • Champion of innovation and discovery process within product development teams.

Cross functional collaboration

He/she will:

  • Work with the Director of Software, Technology & Platforms and the Director of Software, Research, to build a high-performing Software group, capable of thinking long-term, establishing a strong technology platform while being quick to bring value to its user-base.
  • Collaborate with other Directors of Product Development to co-build solutions combining software and hardware products.
  • Develop and communicate a clear and achievable product roadmap, aligning with business goals and responding to market demands, competitive pressures, and technological advancements.
  • Be the voice of Software Products and Product Innovation in global systems roadmap discussions.
  • Collaborate with other divisions on key development projects.

Experience and Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, or a related engineering field.
  • Proven experience in software engineering and bringing products to market.
  • Proven experience in integrating the design practice into software product development.
  • Expertise in software development and engineering (architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance), design and presentation of prototypes.
  • Have a detailed vision of the software developed and its technical environment (electroacoustic and mechanical simulation, signal processing, control of networked devices, interoperability).
  • Knowledge of managing multiple software development teams in a technological innovation environment in conjunction with R&D business experts and end users.
  • Knowledge of modern software development strategies and possibilities for integrating innovation into our solutions.
  • Proactivity in the management of the project road map (technical, deadlines, deliverables), communicating with the various business lines' management and development teams.
  • 5+ years management experience.
  • Fluent in French and English.
