Niantic’s Legal Department is hiring a Product Policy and Compliance Specialist to lead policy development for its products and services, including content moderation, user generated content, and online safety. Niantic Legal partners with teams across the company to develop solutions for the legal, compliance and public policy challenges (and opportunities!) the company encounters as it continues to develop innovative augmented reality experiences.

This role will collaborate with cross functional partners to be the subject matter expert on Niantic policies, identify areas for policy creation or refinement, and track regulatory and industry developments in content safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting content policies for internal and external stakeholders and engaging cross functionally to drive consensus. As part of the distributed Trust & Safety function across Niantic, this role will sit within the Legal team and partner closely with the Product, UX, and Player Experience teams.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, implement and maintain content and user safety policies across surfaces; develop process to track and document policy development;
  • Work cross functionally with Product, Legal, UX and Player Experience to assess new products and features with a focus on user safety, identifying and assessing gaps between policy and design where applicable;
  • Be an expert on all content moderation and user safety regulatory and policy areas relevant to the business,
  • Research and benchmark industry and regulatory approaches to user safety to anticipate risks to users and Niantic;
  • Participate in knowledge sharing with industry partners in the Trust & Safety space
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.
  • Required in-office 2 days.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
  • 3-5 years of experience in trust and safety, online safety policy or a related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work cross functionally and support safety-by-design practices in product development;
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills;
  • Experience with regulatory compliance in online safety is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including asynchronous interactions with others.

 

The total compensation package for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $114,300.00 - $127,000.00 + bonus + equity + benefits.

Individual pay within this salary range is determined by work location and additional factors, including assessed job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
