As the "face of Airgas," the Shuttle Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting cylinder gases and hard goods to area branches and plant locations using a company-provided semi tractor-trailer. The Shuttle Driver loads, unloads, delivers, and returns cylinder gasses and hard goods while frequently interacting with Airgas internal customers.

As a Shuttle Driver at Airgas, you will be a part of a professional team that encourages internal mobility while offering our employees a work/life balance. In addition, Airgas operates a modern and efficient fleet. Most vehicles are under 6 years old and equipped with driver-friendly technology, such as On Board Computers, collision avoidance technology, latest camera technology and GPS navigation.

In particular, you will:

Drive truck with a capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties:

  • Deliver compressed gas cylinders, liquid cylinders and hard-goods to other branch locations.
  • Communicate in person with internal customers, providing information ordering and delivery times, etc.
  • Maintains load manifests and all other vehicle documents ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.
  • Accurately maintain records such as Department of Transportation Driver's Log and vehicle logs according to state and federal regulations.
  • Picks up empty cylinders from branch locations and returns them to the plant for refilling following all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Operates a forklift, pallet jack or other warehouse equipment in order to load and unload trucks following all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections, document deficiencies and all equipment is in safe and good working order.
  • Comply with all company policies and meets DOT requirements.
  • Picks up empty cylinders from branch locations and returns them to the plant for refilling following all federal, state, and local regulations.

Airgas follows the FMCSA requirement for all motor carrier employers to run full queries of the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse database for any violations during the pre-employment process for all new CDL Driver Hires to ensure they are not prohibited from performing safety-sensitive functions. All new CDL Driver Hires must register for the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and allow Airgas consent to review their Clearinghouse record.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Valid TX Class A Commercial Drivers License with Hazmat and Air Brake endorsements

  • Valid Medical Examiner's Card

  • Must have one (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.

  • In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school and a minimum of one (1) year of prior driving experience within the last five (5) years.

  • Must be at least 21 years or older.

  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.

  • Ability to routinely lift 25 - 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.

  • Must be able to obtain a forklift operator certification

  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to work occasional overtime if necessary.
