Job Title: Learning and Development Partner – Early Talent

Salary: From: £38,800.00+

Duration: Fixed Term (approx. 14 months)

Location: Peterborough

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary

Reporting to the Organisational &Talent Development Manager, this role will lead a variety of tasks focused on early talent development and the coordination of our apprenticeship programs. It’s an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of supporting the early talent joining our business. 

The role incudes coordinating the recruitment, development and support of our apprentices on the Peterborough site.  From looking at social media campaigns, to attending events, working internally to collaborate with our talent acquisition team, getting into the detail of organizing engagement days, onboarding process and working with apprentice providers, this role is certainly varied, with processes supporting everything that we do. What You Will Do:

  • Own, develop and maintain lean processes in support of the apprentice program, including assessing and reviewing changing business needs for the early talent strategy.
  • Work with the talent acquisition team to design and run the apprentice recruitment campaign with efficient use of resources, including working with external vendors and technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the site to advise, communicate and support requirements within the apprentice program timelines.
  • Governance of early talent processes and procedures, including management of the apprentice Levy for the Peterborough site.
  • Support onboarding for our early talent at the Peterborough site including apprentices, graduates and placement students.
  • Work with external training providers, colleges and universities to source the best programs that meet company requirements – both for new apprentices and to support existing employee development.
  • Support the design and execution of local events to promote our apprenticeships, including attending schools, colleges and local government events as well as hosting on site events
  • Manage clear and regular communications on early talent activities with business leaders, HR and talent acquisition partners, and external providers.

What You Have:

  • Effective Communications: Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations and working within governance and existing processes
  • Consulting: Knowledge of techniques, roles, and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to customers, both internal and external; ability to apply consulting knowledge appropriately.
  • Program management:  Define processes , co-ordinate activities, adapt to changing business requirements, work within company and governmental procedures

Top Candidates may have:

  • Experience of working with the Apprenticeship Levy
  • Experience of working with Apprentices in a similar role

Additional Information

  • We operate a hybrid working week consisting of three days in the office and two from home.
