The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team as a Principal Systems Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division. This position can be based out of Fairfax, VA, or Aurora, CO.

A successful candidate will demonstrate a technical understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering and the use of Cameo Enterprise Architecture to model systems, subsystems, components, interfaces, and verification paths as well as applying relevant profiles and stereotypes to new and pre-existing nodes. Candidate is expected to work both independently and within a team, demonstrating the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and communicate effectively with varying levels of program, customer, and functional organization leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline

  • Working knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and processes

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate to team members, customers, and stakeholders

  • Strong presentation and analytical skills

  • Eagerness/Ability to Learn new skills

  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts

  • Excellent technical writing and team building skills

  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance and willing to submit for a polygraph at time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with:

    • Interface Control Document development

    • Agile Development

    • Atlassian Tool Suite: JIRA, Confluence, etc

    • Knowledge and experience of agile principles using scrum framework

    • Requirements management tools (DOORS)

    • Use Cases & Activity Flow diagrams

    • Requirements Development, Management and Verification

    • Block Definition Diagrams and Interface Block Diagrams

    • Scripting or Programming

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and willing to submit to a polygraph

Salary Range: $68,800.00 - $86,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
