Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with experience in the design of Fluid Subsystems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Melbourne, FL. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.
This position is currently contingent on program award and associated program award funding. Start dates are determined after funding confirmation.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, modifying, and maintaining aircraft subsystems design configurations using current engineering practices and standards. This role is focused on fluid subsystems such as Environmental Control Systems, Fuel Systems, and Hydraulic Systems. If needed, you might be requested to help with other systems, such as Crew Systems and/or Equipment Integration.
Responsibilities may include:
- Perform design related tasks utilizing the NX and Teamcenter tool suite
- Integrate subsystems components into various types of aircraft applications
- Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholder to ensure robust and maintainable configurations are produced
- Apply GD&T requirements to models to ensure producibility and manufacturability of designs
- Evaluate and verify requirements to ensure airworthiness criteria are met
- Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates
- Design tubes/ducts and routing of transport elements related to Hydraulic, Fuel, and Environmental Control Systems (ECS)
- Crew station design, equipment payload integration, secondary structure, and rack design
Selected candidates should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidates must be self-starters capable of flourishing in an environment with minimal direction. Candidates will need to have excellent communication and writing skills with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a related STEM discipline and 3 years of relevant experience
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance prior to the commencement of employmentMust have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An active DoD Top Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Familiarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM
- Aircraft subsystems routing design experience
Salary Range: $84,200.00 - $126,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
