Job Title: Hospice Chaplain

Location: Irving, TX Branch serving the Plano, McKinney area

Reports to: Clinical Team Manager

Position Overview

The Hospice Chaplain is responsible for providing spiritual guidance and support to patients, their families, and the healthcare staff. This includes offering comfort across a variety of faiths and belief systems, respecting individual religious practices, and fostering an atmosphere of peace and solace. As part of the care team, the Chaplain will also support the spiritual health of staff members, contributing to a holistic approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual care and guidance to hospice patients and their families based on their individual beliefs and needs.
  • Offer counseling and emotional support to patients and families during difficult times.
  • Serve as a spiritual leader for the hospice team, providing encouragement and guidance to staff members.
  • Facilitate grief and bereavement support for families and individuals.
  • Lead memorial services, prayer, and spiritual rituals as needed, ensuring sensitivity to various faith traditions.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to develop comprehensive care plans for patients.
  • Maintain accurate records of spiritual services provided and ensure appropriate documentation.
  • Provide 1:1 care and develop trusting relationships with patients and their families.
  • Support an environment of respect, compassion, and professionalism at all times.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care team meetings to provide spiritual input into patient care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Divinity, Religious Studies, or a related field.
  • Completion of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in hospice care, ministry, or counseling.
  • Ordained minister; Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and appropriate insurance.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
