The Operational Support Pilot for the DEA Aviation Operations is responsible for supporting various flight missions, ensuring safe and efficient flight operations. This role requires a highly experienced pilot with extensive flight hours and specific FAA ratings. The Operational Support Pilot must hold a valid FAA Commercial Instrument License and maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
Flight Operations:
Conduct flight missions as directed, ensuring all operations are performed safely and efficiently.
Operate DEA aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, DEA policies, and standard operating procedures.
Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections to ensure the aircraft's airworthiness.
Mission Support:
Support a variety of missions, including surveillance, transportation, and other operational tasks as needed.
Collaborate with other DEA personnel to ensure mission success and operational readiness.
Adapt to changing mission requirements and operational environments.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all flight operations comply with FAA regulations and DEA policies.
Maintain accurate records of flight activities, hours, and maintenance logs.
Participate in safety briefings and debriefings to ensure thorough understanding of safety protocols.
Training and Development:
Stay current with required FAA certifications and training.
Participate in regular training sessions to maintain and enhance flight skills and knowledge.
Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced pilots as needed.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
Requires Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience
The Operational Support Pilot shall hold a valid FAA Commercial Instrument License and the following current FAA certified ratings:
1. Single Engine Land (SEL)
2. Multi-engine Land (MEL)
3. Instrument airplane
Must have a minimum of 2,000 hours logged total pilot time in category, with the following minimum experience:
1. 500 hours multi-engine pilot-in-command (PIC) 200 hours night
2. 1,000 hours cross country 250 hours instrument
3. 500 hours turbine engine PIC
Must hold a valid first-class FAA medical certificate.
Must be able to obtain and maintain and Public Trust Security Clearance.
The proposed pilot must have no previous aviation accident record, and must never have had any designation or rating suspended or revoked.
Preferred, but not required:
Spanish speaking ability
Foreign flight experience Commercial Flight Instructor (CFI)
Commercial Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI)
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)
