Come join us and experience the Logan Health difference, where your passion meets purpose in a place you’ll be proud to call home.The Medical Billing & Collections Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate claim submission, monitoring claim status, resolving rejections and denials, and processing adjustments for Medicare accounts. This role requires critical thinking skills and a solid understanding of Medicare eligibility, payment methodology, and government regulations. Proficiency with Meditech and/or Cerner billing systems is essential to ensure efficient claim processing
Key Responsibilities:
Billing and Collections
Submit claims to primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance in accordance with guidelines.
Follow up on unpaid insurance accounts using aging reports.
Handle claim appeals and refund requests as needed.
Identify billing and reimbursement trends, report findings to leadership.
Reallocate misapplied payments and adjustments.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to payer guidelines.
Assist with special assignments as required.
On-Site Business Office Coverage
Respond to patient inquiries about billing, accounts, and payment options professionally and promptly.
Help patients understand billing statements, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), and insurance claims.
Post payments and adjustments accurately, ensuring compliance with statements and insurance rules.
Collaborate with team members to resolve billing issues and escalate as needed.
Keep patient records accurate and update account information regularly.
Log customer interactions clearly in the billing system.
Act as a liaison between patients, providers, and payers to resolve account issues.
Additional Responsibilities
Complete tasks efficiently, meeting productivity and quality standards.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to support ongoing improvement.
Maintain reliable attendance as per the assigned schedule.
Uphold HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines.
Basic Qualifications:
1+ year(s) of experience in a business, medical, or clinical environment.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including data entry, formulas, and basic functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Medicare and/or Medicaid UB-04 & CMS-1500 claim forms.
Advanced skills in Electronic Medical Record Billing systems, including Meditech and Cerner.
Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance guidelines.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Strong time management, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Maintain regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.
