Job Summary:

The Customer Service Representative - Employee Benefits provides prompt, accurate, and courteous support service to clients and account teams.  The ideal candidate should have a background in employee benefits and the ability to develop an excellent rapport clients and carrier partners. Project management and multi-tasking skills are crucial components of this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor incoming member calls and client email accounts receiving customer service requests related to eligibility and claim concerns.

  • Assist Account Management Team with day-to-day administrative needs, such as claims and billing resolution, and other service-related items

  • Manage benefits enrollment and terminations as needed, including COBRA qualifying event notifications in carrier/vendor portals

  • Investigate and resolve complex issues with both carriers and clients, including claims and billing resolution, provider inquiries, provider referral issues and other administrative issues

  • Assist with billing audits and reconciliation

  • Assist with HRIS/Ben Admin system implementation, renewal updates and testing

  • Assist with processes incoming Broker of Record letters, gather new client benefit information, add policy and commission structure to agency management system

  • Assist with new carrier and plan implementations

  • Review policies and contracts for accuracy

  • Responsible for printing/binding of sales and renewal presentations and coordination of enrollment kit orders

  • Prepare client mailings, including birthday/holiday gifts

  • Assist with organizing client health expos and wellness events

  • Schedule and coordinate internal and external meetings

  • Create, organize, and maintain specialized, confidential and other office files or filing systems

  • Assist other functional areas and agency personnel as time permits

Education and/or Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or the recognized equivalent is required

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the employee benefits and/or insurance industry

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a fast paced, professional office setting

  • Previous insurance experience is preferred

 Technology Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Adobe Acrobat and PowerPoint

  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills

  • Ability to produce high quality work in a fast-paced environment

  • Work as a team member to achieve department goals and overall company goals

  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, communication and grammatical skills

  • A positive outlook and desire to learn and grow with the organization

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise and accurate information in a written and verbal format

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects according to deadlines and urgency

  • Flexibility, willing to “wear many hats” and assist team members in any other capacity relating to client services
