Firmwide Outsourced Solutions and Managed Services Director, Senior Data Architect

RSM is a leading provider of audit, tax, and consulting services to middle-market businesses and entrepreneurs across a broad range of industries. RSM’s Outsourced Solutions and Managed Services team provides a strategic bridge between business development, practice leadership, customers, and internal operations. This newly created team offers the opportunity to work in a startup type environment and help build the offering from the beginning and help shape the future of the Managed Services Practice.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect. This is a newly created role that offers the opportunity to work in an environment to build out the data infrastructure and architecture for the delivery of our Outsourced Solutions and associated managed services. 

The Data Architect will play a critical role in designing and managing the firm’s data infrastructure and architecture. This role involves developing strategies for data management, ensuring data quality, and implementing solutions that support financial consulting, tax, and audit processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, financial systems, and a deep understanding of data governance and security practices. 

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture Design: 

  • Design and implement scalable, efficient, and secure data architectures to support financial consulting, tax, and audit functions. 

  • Develop and maintain data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical designs. 

  • Define data integration strategies and develop ETL processes to ensure seamless data flow across systems. 

Data Management and Governance: 

  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security. 

  • Develop data quality frameworks and monitoring systems to maintain high standards of data integrity. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives. 

System Integration: 

  • Oversee the integration of various financial systems and platforms, ensuring compatibility and efficient data exchange. 

  • Design and manage data interfaces between internal systems and external partners or clients. 

Data Security and Compliance: 

  • Implement and manage data security measures to protect sensitive financial and client data. 

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, including GDPR, CCPA, and financial industry-specific requirements. 

  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities. 

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: 

  • Work closely with financial consultants, tax experts, and auditors to understand their data needs and provide solutions that enhance their workflows. 

  • Collaborate with IT teams, including database administrators and developers, to ensure successful implementation of data solutions. 

  • Provide guidance and support to business units on data-related issues and best practices. 

Data Strategy and Innovation: 

  • Develop and execute data strategies that support the firm’s business goals and drive innovation in financial consulting, tax, and audit services. 

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement new data solutions and tools. 

Documentation and Reporting: 

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and procedures. 

  • Prepare and present reports on data management, architecture performance, and project status to senior management. 

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Certified Data Management Professional) is a plus. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture, with a focus on financial systems, consulting, or audit environments. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Proficiency in data modeling tools and techniques. 

  • Experience with SQL, data warehousing, and ETL processes. 

  • Familiarity with financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, financial reporting tools). 

  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices. 

Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Project Management: Experience in managing data-related projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $116,300 - $199,100

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
