Overview:

Creates additional documentation as required by the specific county clerk office and follows up to ensure the lien is recorded.  Reviews transmittal fees and works with title companies to determine their accuracy.  Calculates fees, generates checks and creates packages to send the title companies to record documents.  Interacts with title companies to resolve fee discrepancies.   Works closely with title companies, county clerk offices and internal business partners to resolve issues where the mortgage cannot be recorded.  Completes a monthly sampling of files to ensure original documents are received by the Bank.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Extract key documents or create necessary documents required for a mortgage recording from the file.
• Execute and notarize mortgage documents as needed.
• Reconcile and pay the title company transmittal reports.
• Respond to questions from incoming email and phone communication from internal customers.
• Send documents to be recorded and transmittals to the appropriate title company overnight.
• Sample files to ensure key documents are in the file.
• Generate reporting of unrecorded documents to support completed files.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Required:

Associate’s degree, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 2 years’ work experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience
