About the Role
The New York Times is looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to support employees and managers across our Print Products & Services, Legal, and Finance groups. You will be the primary contact for HR needs across these groups. You will help assess organizational needs and help implement the talent strategy to address them. You will help the design of programs that foster an inclusive culture, align with our core values, and support employee engagement, connection, and career development.
You will be in a hybrid position based at our Print Plant in Flushing, NY, with 1 day out of our NYC headquarters at 620 8th Ave for a total of 3 days per week.
You'll report to the HR Director of Central Functions and use your expertise across the full suite of human resources to provide strategic HR partnership and execution support.
Responsibilities:
Be a trusted strategic advisor and HR Subject Matter Expert to department leaders, managers, and individual contributors across our Print, Finance and Legal teams.
Provide support to department leaders, managers, and employees, including management of annual performance/promotion cycles, learning and development programs, and oversight of people processes/HR administration.
Partner with HR Centers of Excellence to develop and deliver impactful people initiatives.
Support the diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy of The Times by partnering with managers to implement our priorities and monitor progress.
Interpret relevant people metrics to identify trends and provide insights that shape HR strategy and talent management
Partner with Employee Relations and Legal/Labor teams to investigate and resolve employee relations issues.
Implement tactical and administrative processes and assist with HRIS transactions.
Participate in the Talent Acquisition process and Onboarding of new hires.
The role may occasionally require a flexible schedule to support client needs outside of the typical business hours of 9 am to 5 pm.
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Basic Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner position managing the employee lifecycle in a manufacturing/production/supply chain and corporate environment.
5+ years of experience with talent management, policy implementation, employee relations, learning and development, and performance management.
3+ years of experience with an HRIS such as Workday.
Ability to verbally communicate in Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience working with multiple unions or a unionized workforce.
The annual base pay range for this role is between $140,000.00 and $160,000.00.
