Who will you be working with?
In this role you will work in the Cooling and Lubrication Engineering design team. The Cooling team is part of the broader Engine & Power Solutions Technology organization.

How will you make a difference?
As a Lead Engineer – Cooling Components you will lead design projects, be responsible for the engineering deliverables, and own the overall strategy for the parts in your area. This specific role will focus on piping and fluid-carrying connections for cooling and lubrication systems. The role will give end-to-end product ownership and require the design engineer to plan, manage, and execute projects to meet defined parameters and objectives.
What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable engineering discipline
Minimum of 3 years’ equivalent experience in an Engineering position
Demonstrated project management effectiveness in mechanical design projects
Willing and able to support hands-on project needs including Component lab testing and On-locomotive validation testing
Ability to travel ~10% of the time
What will your typical day look like?
Lead component design projects, with high quality, to meet internal and customer requirements per defined project goals.
Follow engineering design tollgate process including requirements definition, concept selection, detailed design development, validation to cut in product changes and release new components per relevant business process steps.
Utilize relevant engineering tools including dFMEA, engineering calculations, materials selection, verification & validation, manufacturability & serviceability study while meeting the project schedule & performance requirements.
Leverage network of experienced engineers / subject matter experts to drive quick optimized solutions.
Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, and global engineering teams.
Document and communicate results of technical data generated in a clear and succinct manner.
Present technical data to internal and external customers
Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
Share engineering information with peers to promote open team dialogues
Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Communicate project status, schedules, upcoming deliverables, and technical solutions between various teams. Method of communications to include, but not limited to, design review process, reliability review meetings, team meetings, project dashboards …etc.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
