Job Summary:

Administers the overall day-to-day leave processing.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of human resource experience.

Knowledge of personnel programs and processes to include equal employment opportunity, hiring, terminations, and compensation.  Verbal and written communication skills.  Interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, reviews, and acknowledges all requests for leave of absence (LOA, TDL, FMLA, intermittent FMLA, military, etc.).  Assures proper documentation from employee, supervisor, physicians or other health care providers for completeness, eligibility, and approves or denies requests according to institutional policy, and state and federal regulations.
  • Performs data entries and updates in Workday to maintain employee records including but not limited to submitting electronic Workday actions and appropriate reports and updates.  Sets up, monitors and tracks leave statuses. Utilizes systems to access attendance and leave data to compile and generate appropriate reports.  Maintain archives and filing system for active and inactive leaves.
  • Reviews and resolves escalated issues regarding the disposition of FMLA/LOA requests from employees.  Explains policy. Effectively communicates with managers and employees regarding the status of leave and returning employees from leave.  Works closely with HR business partners and managers to resolve time sensitive leave issues and clarify interpretation of policies.
  • Administer overall process for donor leave requests including but not limited to adherence to UMMC donor leave policies and compliance with state regulations, eligibility determination, tracking time use and refunding unused time.
