The Insurance Supervisor assists in overseeing the operations of the Insurance Department. The Supervisor will especially aid in research and quality control for the Insurance Department.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide guidance and training to new employees.
Primarily responsible for monitoring RIS worklists to ensure efficiency.
Assist with employee schedules & assignments to ensure all centers and carriers are covered.
Monitor centralized fax folder to ensure items are distributed and scanned in.
Fill in for staff when department is behind or shorthanded. May require staying late.
Add new insurance carriers into RIS Responsible for compiling and updating reference guides for different carriers.
Foster communication between departments to help improve workflow and quickly resolve any issues. Escalate as appropriate.
Assist with keeping the training manual up to date with new items, rules, policies etc.
Research returned claim forms and process accordingly.
Assist with new hire and employee evaluations as well as disciplinary actions.
Handle inquiries from other departments by researching and delegating.
Spot-check other verifiers work (TOS, notes, Auth, etc) to check for accuracy.
Assist with various projects as assigned including Medoc and CareNow assignments.
Manages staff performance by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
High school Graduate or equivalent experience.
3 or more years of prior medical office insurance verification experience.
Must be articulate, professional, and have excellent customer service skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Multi-tasking skills are essential.
Must be reliable, flexible and motivated as job duties, tasks, work hours and work requirements may be changed at any time.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Able to accept accountability and demonstrates a willingness to seek solutions.
Preferred
Prior Supervisory experience.
Experience is preferred; Knowledge of HMO, PPO, Government, Work Comp, LOP, and PIP Insurances;
Familiarity with current software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, FUJI RIS, and Imagine Billing Software.
Knowledge of ICD-10.
