Job Summary:**

Jabil, Inc. is seeking a skilled and compassionate Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing employees and their hearing colleagues and supervisors within our manufacturing and corporate environments. This role ensures equal access to information and participation in all aspects of the workplace.

Job Responsibilities:**

* Provide accurate and impartial interpretation between American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant sign languages (e.g., Spanish Sign Language) and spoken English/Spanish in various settings, including meetings, training sessions, performance reviews, interviews, and general workplace interactions.
* Interpret for deaf or hard-of-hearing employees during emergencies, safety briefings, and critical communications.
* Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all interpreted information.
* Prepare for assignments by familiarizing oneself with topics, terminology, and individuals involved to ensure accurate and culturally appropriate interpretations.
* Collaborate with HR and management to identify and address communication needs and barriers for deaf or hard-of-hearing employees.
* Educate hearing staff on best practices for interacting with deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and utilizing interpreter services.
* Adapt interpretation style and pace to suit the specific needs of the individuals involved and the context of the communication.
* Maintain professional boundaries and ethical conduct in accordance with interpreting standards.

Job Qualifications:**

* Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant sign languages (e.g., Lengua de Señas Española).
* Fluent in spoken English and/or Spanish, both written and verbal.
* Certification from a recognized interpreting body (e.g., RID, BEI) is highly preferred.
* Proven experience as a professional sign language interpreter in a corporate, manufacturing, or similar professional setting.
* Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication nuances.
* Excellent listening, comprehension, and analytical skills.
* Ability to maintain composure and accuracy in fast-paced or sensitive situations.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport effectively.
* Proficiency in general computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
