Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in project management
  • 6+ years of experience in business analysis
  • Experience working on a variety of IT projects
  • Experience managing numerous projects, budgets, and resources

Job Summary

Manages and oversees all aspects of medium- to large-scale technology projects, including scope, costs, schedules, internal staffing, outside vendors, and contractual deliverables. Ensures all projects are completed on-time and within budget.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Develops, analyzes, and manages project plans, schedules, and resource forecasts and makes adjustments as needed. 
  • Manages project financials and provides input and justification for costs and budgetary impacts.
  • Communicates project goals to the team, coordinates team activities to ensure project milestones are achieved, and provides performance feedback on project objectives.
  • Controls and mitigates project risks by analyzing and identifying trigger events.
  • Establishes contingency plans, anticipates and communicates dependencies affected by ongoing project changes, and recommends ways to mitigate future risks.
  • Oversees the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse project stakeholders by building and maintaining relationships with internal customers, third party vendors, and senior management.
  • Provides insight and recommendations to management  to assist in the development of project goals, inform the prioritization of deliverables, and facilitate decisions necessary for project delivery.
  • Gathers, maintains, and communicates lessons learned and feedback to project stakeholders and management.
     

Nature and Scope

  • Displays the highest level of critical thinking and analysis in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-departmental problems. Makes prompt, sound decisions when faced with complex and often contradictory alternatives that result in successful outcomes.
  • Operates with considerable latitude. Situations may have little or no precedent requiring original or new concepts or approaches without guidance from others. Reaches decisions under conditions of uncertainty.
  • Develops or engages/directs others in developing innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and operating problems; cross-departmental considerations are often present.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 8+ years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
