Salary Range:
$180,000.00 - $234,000.00We are looking for a Staff Product Manager to partner with our Engineering team in building a robust, scalable data platform that will empower our internal users (data scientists, analysts, MLEs, and product engineers) to leverage data effectively across Etsy. This platform will support both batch and streaming data processing (Airflow, Spark, BigQuery, GCS, Kafka), providing a resilient infrastructure to power data-driven products, workflows, and insights across the organization. This role, positioned within our growing Data Enablement Product organization, will play a crucial role in defining, executing, and evolving our data platform strategy.
At Etsy, data is foundational to everything we do. Our data platform powers thousands of pipelines daily, from consumer-facing ML models to critical financial reporting. In this Staff Product Manager role, you will be responsible for creating a reliable, high-performance data infrastructure that scales to meet Etsy’s evolving data needs and provides a solid foundation for advanced analytics, machine learning, and beyond.

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Our Data Platform is dedicated to building software and platforms that reduce toil, increase access to data, and respects privacy. We seek to build scalable systems that are flexible but maintainable. Our data stack includes Spark, Airflow, Dataproc, Dataflow, GCS, BigQuery, BigTable, Kafka, and KafkaStreams/KSQL.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Define the product vision and roadmap for a scalable Data Platform that supports the creation, management, and processing of batch and streaming data.
Take ownership of Data Management practices across the platform, including data governance, quality, and discoverability.
Develop methods and metrics to measure platform performance, scalability, and reliability, communicating insights and progress to senior leadership.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal data users, gathering feedback to refine platform capabilities.
Guide the evolution of our platform strategy, incorporating industry advancements across batch and streaming data infrastructures.
Establish clear structures in this complex space, defining and prioritizing steps that add early value while progressing toward a cohesive long-term vision for the platform.

Experience as a Product Manager in data or technology-focused roles, with a strong focus on building and managing data platforms.
Familiarity with both batch and streaming data technologies and their applications in modern data infrastructure.
Experience with Data Management practices, including data governance and data quality management across diverse datasets.
Proven success in establishing cross-functional partnerships, especially with Engineering and Analytics teams.
Strong communication skills for sharing technical concepts, project briefs, and strategic plans with broad and senior leadership groups.
