Process Operator: Crafting Innovation from Grain

As a Process Operator, you'll be at the forefront of this exciting process.
 

Your Role:

Your role is pivotal in our process. You'll:

  • Master the Art and Science: Operate and maintain sophisticated equipment, transforming corn into its valuable components.
  • Quality Craftsmanship: Ensure our products meet the highest standards of purity and consistency.
  • Problem Solver Extraordinaire: Identify and resolve challenges to optimize efficiency and product quality.
  • Safety Advocate: Prioritize safety in every action, safeguarding yourself and your team.
  • Innovation Champion: Contribute to process improvements and new product development.
  • Operational Excellence: Safely operate and maintain production equipment within specifications.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and recommend enhancements to processes and procedures.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor production operations through computer systems and controls.
  • Quality Control: Conduct product sampling and testing to ensure compliance.
  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport raw materials and finished products.
  • Physical Work: Perform physically demanding tasks such as moving hoses, cleaning equipment, and handling heavy materials.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and product movement.
  • Chemical Handling: Safely handle and work with chemicals according to guidelines.
  • Versatility: Learn and perform various job duties as needed.

Transferable Skills

Given the nature of the Process Operator role, individuals with experience in the following areas would be particularly well-suited:

  • Trades: Auto mechanics, machine operators, welders, or similar trades.
  • Manufacturing: Experience in other industrial settings.
  • Hobbies: Tinkering with appliances, robotics, electronics, or home repairs.
  • Military: Roles involving equipment operation or maintenance.

  • OSHA certification
  • Strong computer skills (UKG, SAP, Excel, Outlook)
  • Union experience
  • Forklift experience
  • Read, write, and speak Spanish

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass pre-employment assessments, background checks, and physical and drug screenings as required.
  • Read, write, and speak English

Work Environment:

Our Bedford Park plant is a dynamic, 300-acre facility operating 24/7, 365 days a year. You'll be part of a unionized team working rotating 5-week shifts across three shifts (8-16 hours), five days a week. While the work is challenging, it offers opportunities for growth and stability.

The plant environment can be demanding, with varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential exposure to heights. Respiratory protection may be required in certain areas. The nature of our operations may also involve encounters with pests.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders (applicants should not be fearful of heights).
  • Bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Working in confined spaces.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety shoes, and safety harnesses.

Compensation: We offer a competitive salary range of $25.81 to $29.42 per hour for this full-time position.
