About the role:

MUFG is the leading international bank in the Australasian market.  Due to recent success and continued growth in our business, applications for a Sydney based Analyst in our Treasury Liquidity Management Desk are being sought. The role will be a junior dealer supporting the team responsible for the branch Asset & Liability Management (ALM) business.

The Sydney based Analyst role will assist the broader Oceania Liquidity Management team with managing crucial Treasury functions such as funding, liquidity, interest rate risk and to ensure financial stability and compliance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the Oceania ALM team in managing the liquidity requirements to support the growth of the broader business lines and ensure we meet regulatory requirements.

  • Responsibility for managing the bank’s cash positions including executing and booking of cash and derivatives transactions.

  • Direct interaction with clients to manage their deposit requirements.

  • Preparing monthly/weekly/daily and ad-hoc reporting for Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO) and management requirements.

  • Demonstrating a good understanding of financial markets, including banking products and interest rate derivatives.

  • Broad exposure to all facets of liquidity management including funding, repo, issuance programs and transfer pricing.

  • Contributing to financial modelling and cash flow forecasting to achieve strategic goals.

  • Helping drive efficiency and process improvements.

  • Regional reporting related tasks.

  • Completing other ad-hoc tasks as directed.

Key areas of accountability:

  • Client transactions and booking trades into the banking system.

  • Assisting the broader ALM team to achieve desired financial and non-financial KPI’s.

  • Undertaking balance sheet analysis under direction from the team.

  • Strongest levels of integrity and compliance.

  • Good level of financial market knowledge and understanding.

  • Showing a strong technical ability to be able to price and identify financial patterns.

  • Demonstrating superior communication skills and being a strong team player.

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics/Financial or Business-related field.

  • Some experience in financial markets preferable – banks, funds management, corporate treasury or recent completion of a graduate rotation.

  • AFMA Accreditation preferred, or the desire to obtain.

  • Ideally an understanding of interest rate products, pricing and theory.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with proficiency in Excel modelling.

  • A proactive and detail-orientated approach to all tasks.
