Business Analysis & Information Manager – Patient Assistance Programs

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be based at our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Manager will report directly to the Associate Director, Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs).

The Patient Assistance Programs Business Analysis & Information Manager will provide data analysis and forecasting support for multiple Amgen products related to Patient Assistance Programs. They will develop/implement improvements with a focus on forecasting, latest estimates, long range plans, and ad-hoc forecasting requests. They will work cross-functionally with Amgen Data Management, Law, Safety, Quality, Supply Chain, Healthcare Compliance, US Patient Access and Reimbursement, Finance, and Accounting to understand PAP trends and data. This individual will streamline forecasting and supply management processes and create an improved overall data experience for other members of the Patient Assistance Programs team supporting the Sr. Director in managing requests for data to executives

Key responsibilities of Patient Assistance Programs, Business Analysis & Information Manager include:

  • Accountable for data management and technology on the PAP team
  • Develop best practices for forecasting and analysis
  • Lead coordination amongst cross functional stakeholders to simplify and standardize data and executive dashboards
  • Create playbook for scalable forecasting across brands, business units, and disease states
  • A​ct as Program Lead for inventory forecasts and any necessary changes to the forecasts
  • Support the execution of budgets and long-range planning
  • Engage our cross-functional Amgen partners (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Trade Operations, Supply Chain and Quality) to coordinate, plan and manage Patient Assistance Donations and inventory
  • Manage within strict compliance guidelines with regards to Patient Assistance Data sharing
  • Provide ad hoc research and analysis to support development new product proposals and potential changes to existing products
  • Support relationship management with all internal and external partners (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Data Management, Supply Chain, Trade Operations, and others)
  • Manage collection of data elements requested across Amgen (e.g. Corporate Responsibility and Compliance memo, ESG Report, Investor relations, etc)
  • Assist with program impact analytics and long-range budget planning

Travel: Up to 20% (visit suppliers, attend conferences)

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

Or

Master’s degree and 2 years of business analytics or forecasting experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of business analytics or forecasting experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 8 years of business analytics or forecasting experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 10 years of business analytics or forecasting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS/MBA)
  • Degree concentration in economics, finance, mathematics, or statistics
  • Business analytics or forecasting experience in the biopharmaceutical or other healthcare industries
  • Extensive business analytics and forecasting experience particularly in budgeting and data management
  • Expert knowledge in the use of and building of spreadsheets, databases and data management tools, and AI (i.e. Excel, Tableau, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Experience with advanced spreadsheets, modeling software, reporting software, and database design
  • Experience with quantitative techniques including smoothing, regression, time series analysis, and simulation
  • Experience within the oncology therapeutic area
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills; able to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Strong project management skills—able to organize and complete multiple projects efficiently and on time
  • Demonstrated analytical skills combined with a client service orientation
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment
  • Good understanding of the latest developments in the biopharmaceutical industry, and unmet medical needs and opportunities in the assigned therapeutic areas
  • Broad, working knowledge of commonly used biopharmaceutical industry databases
  • Ability to think strategically to support key business decisions
  • Analytical approach, curious about data and what it can tell us
  • Effective at working cross-functionally with other business units, as well as with internal partners to ensure maintenance of Amgen legal, regulatory, and compliance standards
  • Competency in compliance guidelines governing supply chain and patient assistance programs
  • Background and/or experience working in the US healthcare landscape or biopharmaceuticals
  • Familiarity with audit processes and not-for-profit accounting, legal, and tax requirements
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to shape long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with Amgen colleagues and third-party partners

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $98,965 to $128,768. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
