Blend is looking for a motivated attorney who enjoys solving complex problems to join our Legal & Compliance team. As Product and Commercial Counsel, you will (i) advise on legal and regulatory risks relating to the company’s product development lifecycle and (ii) negotiate various commercial agreements, including sales, partnership, and vendor agreements.  This role is a phenomenal opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking legal and compliance team and to have a direct impact on business initiatives and outcomes.  We also encourage members of our team to explore their interests and work on projects that may be unfamiliar to them, as we believe that hands-on experience is the best way to develop new skills.

Our team is responsible for navigating a publicly traded fintech company with broad market impact through an evolving and complex financial legal and regulatory environment.  Furthermore, our team’s work enables our internal partners to build, refine, and sell our innovative business-to-business SaaS platform and other groundbreaking technology initiatives with a focus on speed and quality execution.  

How you'll contribute:

  • Counsel our Product, Engineering, Business Development, and go-to-market teams throughout the product lifecycle on applicable legal and regulatory requirements and risks.
  • Anticipate and identify legal and regulatory risks, and propose creative and effective solutions to mitigate these risks with a business-focused mindset.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, including sales, partnership, and vendor agreements in support of product and enterprise initiatives.
  • Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, consumer protection, and privacy laws and regulations.
  • Partner with the broader Legal & Compliance team in various other corporate and enterprise initiatives as such opportunities arise.

Who you are:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of combined relevant experience in in-house legal departments, law firms, and/or governmental agencies.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adaptively, anticipate and mitigate friction points, and take the initiative to drive projects to completion.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • JD and a member of a state bar.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience relating to SaaS centric issues, including data privacy and security.
  • In-house experience at a cloud technology or fintech company.
  • Knowledge and application of consumer protection laws and regulations such as TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, BSA/AML, UDAAP, and GLBA.

To comply with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. For full time hires, the hiring base pay range for this position is between $129,000 - $152,000. Final base pay offer amounts will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to function, level, geographic location, job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
