Director, Product Management Loblaw Brands - Health, Beauty Aids, Baby


The overall focus of this pivotal role is to develop and drive business strategies for Control 
Brands including Life Brand and President's Choice Organics within assigned product

categories; ensuring that the business needs of Loblaw Brands retail customers continue to be

met while maintaining the integrity of our brands. Spanning a broad portfolio of categories this

role provides the autonomy to inspire and coach colleagues into 
discovering the new, the next and the never been done before from a product development standpoint. 
Though innovation is a key piece of our business, a stable and steady base is equally important. 
The successful candidate has the responsibility of maintaining a framework that enables the 
individual product managers to effectively maintain the base portfolio through prioritization of 
maintenance. This role is a great mix of core business acumen, strategy and creativity with the 
opportunity to coach and develop an ambitious and talented group of colleagues.


Accountabilities:
•  Demonstrates a thorough understanding of existing category portfolio. This includes a 
understanding of sales performance of the current offering and a understanding of key branded 
competition and competitive CL developments to aid in the development of new products
•  Has a thorough understanding of current consumer trends generally and specifically within the 
category.
•  Oversees project management working closely with Product Managers and other team members to 
ensure strategies are executed and projects are delivered on time and within the guardrails.
•  Drives exposure and understanding of the market place through regular retail visits. Attends 
relevant training and courses to drive deep understanding of the consumer and the category to 
ensure the most relevant product opportunities are developed and pursued.
•  Manage marketing partnerships to ensure that products under development are considered for 
Insiders, various products are chosen that support the LBL strategy both today and going forward 
and they are not replaced by less profitable national brands.
•  Strong focus on colleague development through coaching and robust IDP focus


Role Requirements:
•  7-10 years' related experience (preferably in a corporate food, packaged goods 
environment).
•  Exceptional analytical skills used to assess current Control Brand performance as well as 
forecast sales, penetration, etc.
•  Naturally proactive with a high degree of self-discipline and organization skills in order to 
manage numerous overlapping projects and deadlines.
•  Superior interpersonal and formal presentation skills to persuade suppliers, customers, senior 
management, and colleagues to accept business recommendations.
•  Lateral thinker who considers financial, technical, and marketing parameters in order to 
introduce innovative products to the marketplace.
•  Experienced in vendor management determining vendor capabilities to handle capacity, volume, 
demand, quality issues etc.
•  Creative and strong negotiation skills are required with increased knowledge of the market and 
financial analysis to support the claims.
•  Sound business acumen
