Role
 

The Portfolio & Project Management team at Genmab is looking for a temporary Discovery Project Manager (PM) in the Discovery Program Management team (Discovery PM)! The initial focus of the Discovery PM will be to support the projects within the New Formats and Technologies (NF&T) program.  The Discovery PM will create overviews of the required work packages, align timelines of the cross functional research activities, and connect these to the overall NFT program timelines. Furthermore, the Discovery PM will be a key contributor in optimization of cross functional processes and connecting the different expertise teams within Genmab.

The Discovery PM will also handle several research collaborations in the NFT program. Together with the other Discovery PMs, the Discovery PM will develop PM tools and ensure consistency to successfully support Genmab’s research activities. This is a non-laboratory, management position, requiring excellent interpersonal and writing skills, a high level of organization, diplomacy, focus, ability to work under tight deadlines, and strong affinity with biotech research and drug development.

Responsibilities

 

The Discovery PM works in partnership with the NFT program manager, the NFT program lead, Scientists, Department heads, Experts, Operational Resource Managers and other Discovery and Research departments to achieve the following:

  • Organize, structure and connect research activities in the New Formats & Technologies program centering around discovery and development of new formats & technologies:
     
  • Organize and prepare cross functional team meetings to share and discuss data packages and facilitate decision making.
     
  • Make inventory of required work packages, build the work plan and monitor progress, identify opportunities and escalate in a timely manner when objectives may not be met.
     
  • Ensure close collaboration with the responsible scientist/experts to optimally execute the research activities.
     
  • Communicate status and progress with relevant stakeholders (both internal and external).
     
  • Support research teams for optimal collaboration by providing project management templates and tools (e.g. coordinate the set-up and use of MS Teams sites, coordinate set-up of research agreements and amendments, reporting templates).
     
  • Ensure prioritization and timeline alignment between the various functions involved.
     
  • Manage the project information, budgets, contracts, documentation, and team communications.
     
  • Provide overviews of deliverables and budget estimates to the NFT Research Program Manager. Work with operational resource management to secure the required resources and budgets.
     
  • Connect key stakeholders and optimize processes to improve effectiveness and satisfaction to achieve its goals through the networks of people/functions represented on the teams. This includes supporting departments, e.g. Administration, Contract Management, Finance, IP, Legal, Business Development.
  • For external research collaborations, coordinate joint research activities and organize and prepare joint progress meetings. Other duties involve guiding scientific project meetings, managing logistics, timelines, and budgets.
  • Within the Portfolio & Project Management department, actively contribute to set-up new research program management tools and capabilities.


Requirements
 

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in life sciences is required;
     
  • PhD in Life Sciences preferred;
     
  • A minimum of +5 years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical R&D or life sciences organization;
     
  • Affinity with project management skills, including maintenance of schedules, development and management of project budget, change control, cross-team leadership, risk mitigation;
  • Excellent internal/external communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • A natural leader who is flexible, agile and results-oriented, with strong focus on providing structure and organizing while keeping the flexibility of a research organization;
  • "Can do attitude" and have the necessary resilience and self-motivation required to make a maximum impact;
  • Be able to successfully manage a wide diversity of program activities simultaneously;
  • Affinity with planning software and visualization software is preferred.
