Overview:

Emerald Family Office & Advisory is M&T Bank and Wilmington Trust’s top-tier wealth planning offering entrusted to attract, deepen, and broaden relationships with hand selected clients and prospects. We are seeking an Accounting Analyst with experience in the field of accounting, audit, client management, and/or financial reporting to join our growing team and provide high level advice and service to our family office clients. The Accounting Analyst will work on dynamic and experienced client teams, independently, under general supervision, with members of our team as well as with external clients. This individual will be responsible for supporting all accounting and financial data integration for ultra-high net worth family office clients. This position also interacts with internal Bank business partners as well as external client representatives and client vendors with support of more experienced personnel. The Accounting Analyst will also assist and participate in related projects as requested.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of customized family office infrastructure through a leading technology solution.
  • Assist in the integration of financial data and family office reports through the family office digital portal. Assist in the gathering, organization, and digital storage of documents relevant to each client’s family office infrastructure.
  • Audit and reconcile financial data to ensure data integrity.
  • Review accounting transaction documentation for completeness and accuracy; research account variances
  • Provide digital portal support to internal colleagues, family office clients, and external client advisors.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of standard and customized financial reports, schedules, and inventories in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support ongoing accounting related advice and guidance to family office clients utilizing their financial data and reports.
  • Maintain cutting edge knowledge and support the improvement and implementation of existing processes and new processes related to family offices that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in departmental task and project planning.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.  Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • The position works independently under general supervision.  This position has interaction with internal Bank business partners as well as internal and external auditors with support of more experienced personnel.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field with significant Accounting coursework and a minimum of 1 year accounting, audit and/or financial institution experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year accounting, audit and/or financial institution experience
  • Proficiency in pertinent spreadsheet software
  • Knowledge and application of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting) Principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum of 1 year bank operations accounting experience

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $56,655.45 - $94,425.76 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
