Job Description

The Model Risk Governance (MRG) group is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and enforcing the Model Risk Management (MRM) program within the Bank. This includes design and execution of policies, standards, and internal procedures for all phases of model life cycle from identification and inventorying to implementation, maintenance, and retirement. MRG provides oversight of model development and validation and is responsible for reporting on the Bank’s overall model risk.

The MRG Analytics and Reporting Manager is responsible for establishing, managing, overseeing and performing analytics and reporting functions for Model Risk Management. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • The compilation, processing and interpretation of data required for accurate day-to-day and ad hoc reporting, including regulatory, audit and Board level reporting.

  • Reporting on Bank compliance with MRM program requirements and on key model risk metrics.

  • The creation of accurate and professional reports, presentations and dashboards distributed to MRM senior leadership, managing committee and Board.

  • The design and execution of process improvements that focus on report automation.

  • The development of rigorous process procedures and workflow diagrams, as well as oversight of MRM’s End-User-Computing Tool policy adherence.

  • The management of the model inventory solution, including change management, record management, and communication with technology partners.

In addition, the MRG Analytics and Reporting manager will:

  • Support business line communication through project management and program communication management.

  • Support maintenance of and reporting on the MRM control inventory, execution, and evidence.

  • Interact considerably with internal audit and regulatory examiners.

The successful candidate will have a desire to lead, teach, and develop team skills. Strong project management skills are essential to coordinate a large number of processes and initiatives and to ensure clear communications with all stakeholders. In addition to strong experience and quantitative skills, a “can-do” personal style/attitude, and the ability to drive decision making through a consensus building approach are also critical to success in this role.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, and 10 or more years of relevant experience OR

  • MA/MS in a quantitative field, and six or more years of related experience OR

  • PhD in a quantitative field, and five or more years of related experience

Related experience should be in statistics, business analytics/intelligence, model development, validation, risk management and/or governance, preferably in the banking or finance industry.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Experience aggregating and cleaning data from multiple data sources.

  • Experience with SQL, Power Platform (including Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps), Python, Alteryx, and/or other similar platforms.

  • Experience building intuitive and visually appealing information dashboards and reports.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective presentation skills to multiple levels of management and associates.

  • Adept at working in a multifaceted organization.

  • Effective working both independently and as a team leader and providing leadership and collaborating with a wide variety of teams.

  • Experience in dealing with regulators and a changing regulatory landscape.

  • Direct and indirect management and leadership experience.

  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk factors, industry risks, competition risks, and risk management approaches.

NOTE:  This role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $129,455.00 - $152,300.00 - $167,530.00
