Responsible for the pre-certification of all facility outpatient diagnostic testing, cath lab and surgery procedures. Has understanding of scheduling process for all outpatient procedures.

Obtains physician orders and patient information to include insurance and clinical information to meet medical necess Follows up with physician office staff when insufficient information is present or insurance requirements are not met.
Assures required orders and authorizations are completed prior to procedure.
Communicates with specific staff and/ or departments when authorizations are not obtained to assure rescheduling of patient.
Performs other additional job duties as directed.

EDUCATION: Completion of a vocational school LPN program.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse as approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing for practice in the state of Tennessee. Responsible for Continuing Education Units annually. BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position. Special certifications may be required at the department' s discretion.
EXPERIENCE: Proficiency in pharmacology and documentation and the ability to demonstrate nursing skills according to current hospital and nursing policies and procedures as normally acquired through the successful completion of documentation class, pharmacology exam, and skills exam.
