Do work that matters

As the Executive Manager, Institutional Banking, Markets and Foreign Branches Audit you will report directly to the General Manager, Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) and Foreign Branches Audit. The team will add value through the following:

  • Using a risk-based approach, assessing and, as applicable, updating audit entities and developing a multi-year Annual Audit plan.
  • In accordance with the Annual Audit plan, executing audits and serving as key experts and advisors to, Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) and Foreign Branches.
  • Leading and supervising end-to-end product, compliance and regulatory audits including thematic and target reviews across IB&M and Foreign Branches.
  • Performing continuous monitoring to capture key and emerging risks to ensure the Audit Plan remains dynamic and relevant.  
  • Validating closure of audit and regulatory issues in compliance with CBA’s issue validation policies.
  • Providing objective assurance on risk management to key customers (e.g. Group Executives and their leadership teams).

GA&A has increasingly embedded digital assurance into audit activities, injecting Artificial Intelligence (AI) into routine control testing and using digital tools to improve the overall experience for employees. The next phase of our transformation is enabling continuous, data driven assurance across the 3LoA.

  • Driving high performance by taking accountability and leading audit team members to achieve GA&A strategic targets and goals.
  • Providing subject matter expertise and strategic direction for auditing Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) and Foreign Branches.
  • Building and delivering a dynamic risk-based Annual Audit Plan for Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) and Foreign Branches to support the broader GA&A Plan.
  • Overseeing effective and efficient planning and delivery of audits. This includes understanding the linkages across risk classes including frameworks, process and controls mitigating the risks,
  • Solving for complex, undefined problems by applying specialized expertise that impacts the audit approach.
  • Providing critical support for remediation initiatives, leveraging expertise.
  • Mentoring and developing others, enhancing technical expertise and influence within the team.
  • Driving appropriate use of analytics and AI, to achieve audit efficiency and deeper insights (i.e. the use of analytics on lead-in reviews, and KRI monitoring to drive audit scope and targeted audit testing).
  • Influencing the audit approach to address emerging risks and develop audit hypotheses on existing processes and emerging risks. 
  • Adhering to audit methodology and QA Program, including timely and effective delivery of Quality Assurance file reviews and ensure any feedback is quickly and effectively addressed.
  • Creating and developing independent, objective, and high impact relationships within GA&A, the bank and externally to enable effective knowledge sharing and collaboration and buy-in to strategic initiatives.

Skills:

  • At least 15 years of financial services industry-based knowledge and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience gained in a risk or audit role across Institutional Banking and Markets products (10+ years) from Australian and/or International Banks.
  • Specific expertise in auditing and/or experience in Line 2/1 roles in Commodities would be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability in building strong customer relationships based on credibility, rapport and trust.
  • Strong People Management experience including proven experience in building and maintaining a highly motivated and performing team.
  • Experience in auditing through agile discipline is desired but not must.
  • Demonstrated ability in deriving commercial insights.
  • Strong influential communicator with the ability to build successful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to deliver across multiple competing and time-bound priorities.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and senior stakeholder engagement with the ability to present and influence senior management.
