About the Role

Within the Data Governance group, you will be responsible for the management of the Capital Markets Business Hierarchy and Product Master application.   This includes working with stakeholders in such areas as the Front Office, Market Risk, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Operations, and Technology to

analyse their requirements, suggest solutions and execute the set up on the technology application,  As the Capital Markets area is a fast changing and complex area, this role requires a highly organized individual who is able to manage several tasks concurrently and is able to reprioritize tasks based on the current need.   Experience with Capital Market trading applications and products is an asset.  You are accountable for developing and executing against department goals and personal objectives while partnering with internal business partners to meet service delivery expectations at the operational level.

You have working knowledge of Capital Markets trading products.  Your working title brings with you a commensurate amount of experience (3+ years) from a related field where you demonstrated expertise in the areas of P&L, Risk Reporting, Trade Support, Accounting, Finance, Trading, or other operational areas in support of the trade lifecycle. You should also demonstrate a willingness to take the lead  on efficiency projects, and provide input for process improvements. You remain professional under pressure and demonstrate responsible decision-making in ways that create additional value. You build effective relationships and are able to collaborate with peers, management, and business partners. You communicate openly, share ideas, and provide timely feedback.  You have the ability to write basic SQL queries and macros in order to analyse large volumes of data.

Job Description

  • Maintenance of the Business Hierarchy and Product Master application through the addition, removing and updating of trading/product data.
  • Coordinate organizational changes within Business reporting lines across all stakeholders, including gathering requirements, suggesting solutions and gathering acknowledgements for audit trail purposes.
  • Perform onboarding of new products on to the Product Master application and their associated mapping to the trading system.
  • Perform updates to Risk limits within the Product Master application.
  • Perform daily/monthly/quarterly reconciliations to ensure maintaining of high quality downstream reporting.
  • Create SQL queries and macros for the analysis of large volumes of trading data.
  • Communicate with internal business partners and external customers to respond to standard and non-standard inquiries.
  • Gather and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Resolve standard and relatively straightforward issues, referring non-routine issues to more senior team members and/or manager.
  • Provide input and analysis into the continuous improvement of business processes and procedures and participates in the planning, testing and implementation of projects and new/ revised products/services or processes as required.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures to execute day to day transactions, activities, processes and ensure all Service Level Agreements(SLAs) are met. Checks and reconciles information and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and analyze issues and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner. Deals with clients directly to resolve trade issues and/or escalates as required.
  • Communicates and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver on business objectives.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal & external stakeholders to execute work and fulfill service delivery expectations.
  • Understands the regulatory requirements and risks inherent in the operations and ensures appropriate actions are taken and operational integrity is maintained.
  • Supports the development of tools and delivery of training focused on delivering business results.
  • Thinks creatively and proposes new solutions.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically between 2-3+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience using capital markets trading systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of capital markets trading products and processes.
  • Knowledge of the risk and regulatory requirements of capital markets trading businesses.

$60,000.00 - $111,700.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
