Job Description Summary

The successful candidate will teach a variety of core courses within the Computer Science, and Robotics programs. Additional expectations include academic advising, assisting the department with program assessment, administrative work, serving on college and university-wide committees. Faculty are required to continue professional development in accordance with university expectations.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

  • Teach 8 classes
  • Advise students
  • Assist with academic program reviews
  • Undertake professional development and produce scholarly research
  • Undertake community service in keeping with the University’s Benedictine values
  • Teach on-ground, online, evening, and weekend classes as needed
  • Teach undergraduate courses
  • Participate in department, college, and university meetings and committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson and/or Dean

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • At least a Master degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, or closely related discipline (e.g. Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Robotics or Software Engineering).
  • Ability to teach a broad spectrum of courses across the ACM/IEEE Computer Science curriculum.

Skills:

  • Display collegial disposition and is open to new ideas for improving processes
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to change.

Abilities:

  • Demonstrate effective written, oral and organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diversity of colleagues and students
