The contract will be up to 12 months
As a contractor technician at Micron Technology, Inc., you will have the opportunity to work for a global manufacturer of memory devices, one of the few companies to produce silicon chips worldwide. You will work in a state-of-the-art electronics laboratory to set up, follow and evaluate the results of product security penetration testing activities. The activities will range from non-invasive to invasive, including the use of Electro Magnetic pulse generators and powerful laser microscopes. You will also contribute to developing software stacks to monitor and aggregate data from experiments ran at scale. In this role, you will also perform calibration activities on the equipment, to ensure that measurements are accurate, applying the international standards for metrology. Finally, you will take part in the development of novel penetration testing methodologies, involving the use of silicon-level analysis tools like 3D Computerized Tomography scanners, Scanning Electron Microscopes and Focused Ion Beam machines, learning to master those tools.

The challenge of covering the penetration testing activities for a big product portfolio requires efficient execution and implementation of experiments, that can demonstrate known and future attacks as well as validate proposed mitigations on the company’s products. The activities will encompass different product security testing methodologies, from the simplest fault attacks to the most sophisticated silicon analysis techniques, the contractor technician will learn how to perform the aforementioned techniques with precision and effectiveness.
Experience / Skills:
Experience in the use of Digital Sampling Oscilloscopes and lab tools
Expertise in the use of scripting languages, programming tools and environments
Extensive experience programming in Python
Experience with Linux operating system
Ability to cross-check board diagrams and schematic with a physical PCB
Ability to hand or hot-air solder/rework SMD components
Curiosity and passion towards product security
Ability to work independently with a minimum of day-to-day supervision
Ability to work in a multi-functional team and under the pressure of multiple priorities
Education
Diploma in technical and relevant area (eg. electronics, computer science)
Additional description
Sets up and ensure the full functionality of product security laboratory equipment. Develops, debugs and modifies test software. Troubleshoots penetration testing setups, eventually reworking or modifying hardware components. Utilizes analog and digital hardware and software operating systems. Typically, programs in python language. Uses advanced failure analysis tools like Scanning Electron Microscopes and Focused Ion Beams.
