The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters). 

Job Summary

  • The manufacturing engineer provides support and guidance on all aspects of production, costs, quality, compliance to safety guidelines, and environmental requirements for manufacturing.

  • This position is located in East Peoria, IL and does not offer relocation

  • 10% travel or less expected with this role (Domestic & International)

What You Will Do

  • Participating in identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to equipment and processes.

  • Monitoring equipment and process reliability; identifying and addressing problem areas.

  • Analyzing engineering change notices, determines any part or process change, initiates and implements all changes.

  • Providing engineering support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance of equipment, processes, or facilities.

What You Have

  • Decision Making, Judgement and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.

  • Manufacturing Equipment: Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them.

  • Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.

  • Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.

  • Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

  • Understanding of M and G code and coordinate systems.

  • Understanding and extensive knowledge of GD&T.

  • Experience with cutting tools and its parameters with speeds and feeds with hardened materials.

  • Experience with CAD / CAM software. (Tool Design)

What Will Set You Apart

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Society of Manufacturing Engineers certification

  • Use or experience with caterpillar print system RASTAR / EPIX.

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar 1E specifications.

  • Knowledge of Caterpillars PPAP process.

  • Experience troubleshooting machining work holding.
