Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is looking for you to join our team as a Principal/Sr. Principal Software Engineer (SVM Software Engineer) based out of Morrisville NC, Fairfax VA, Aurora CO, or Linthicum MD.
We are looking for experienced Software Engineers that will work with a team in the area of Space Vehicle Management. Successful candidates will be experienced SW developer familiar with Mission management, feasibility and validation, mission scheduling, Java and scripting expertise (Python, Perl) and with developing in and for cloud-based Linux based systems using containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

The software engineer designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Experienced SW developer familiar with SV mission management, feasibility modeling.
Basic Qualifications:
-Principal (Level 3): A Bachelor's Degree +5 years of related experience; a Master's degree +3 years of related experience; a PhD; or 9 years of related experience in lieu of degree
-Sr. Principal (Level 4): A Bachelor's Degree +8 years of related experience; a Master's degree +6 years of related experience; a PhD +3 years of related experience; or 12 years of related experience in lieu of degree
- Active TS/SCI and CI poly required at time of application
-Proficient with Java and C++ in a cloud environment using Docker
-Proven ability for modern containerized software development
-Experienced working with a geographically distributed team
-Able to work full time on company premise
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient with Python, Perl, Rust, DevOps, CICD
-Proficient with Atlassian tools (i.e.: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
-Familiar with Kubernetes cluster software deployment
-Experienced developing software for complex near real-time ground systems in mission domain
Salary Range: $97,500.00 - $160,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
