Senior Manager, Software Development
Job Description Summary:
As a Sr. Engineering Manager, you will provide leadership for your development teams in all phases of our development lifecycle. In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the future of Green Dot’s banking and payments platform that powers banking services behind some of America’s most prominent technology companies. This will be accomplished through technical leadership, managing deliverables, and collaborating across teams and functions. You will use your leadership experience to foster the growth of your team members, improve operations, and cultivate a culture of engineering excellence.
Your Day-to-Day:
Facilitating and driving key technology decisions with senior technology stakeholders.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Bring innovation to the table that helps in improving the resiliency of products you are responsible for, sell your ideas and be part of the change.
Tracking business impact of features on a regular basis and rely on performance data to make informed decisions about possible changes or improvements.
Establish outcomes and successfully deliver them.
Increase the productivity and velocity of delivery teams.
Develop, plan, and execute engineering roadmaps that bring value and quality to our customers.
Collaborate and coordinate across teams and functions to ensure technical, product, and business objectives are met.
What you need to bring:
Experience in designing, implementing and maintaining secure, high performance and high availability large-scale distributed applications.
Excellent communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts.
Ability to partner with business units, product management, program management and cross-functional teams to deliver business results with agility and high quality.
Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities.
Results-oriented drive with focus on customer experience and delivering quality products.
10+ years of experience in the software industry, with 3+ years of experience managing and growing multiple engineering teams.
Solid knowledge of designing and maintaining secure, large-scale, high-volume applications with service-oriented architectures (SOA) and message-oriented middleware (MOM) using Apache Kafka.
Experience in Azure Cloud technologies such Azure Functions, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Cosmos DB, AKS, Azure Event Hubs etc. is highly preferred.
Fluent in several of the following languages/platforms/libraries: C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core, NET 6.0+, SQL Server.
Strong knowledge of common design patterns, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
Demonstrated development team building and people management skills.
Recruit, interview, and hire and mentor team Sr. engineers, dev leads and managers.
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
You might be the right match for this role if:
You have recent experience managing a team of senior developers responsible for migrating legacy monolith on-prem high-volume payment processing applications to Azure (or AWS) using native cloud technologies with primary focus around security, scalability, performance and cost.
You have expertise in building message-oriented middleware (MOM) applications using Azure Event Hubs, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid (or comparable AWS services).
You have expertise in C#, .net, MSSQL and no-SQL databases such as Cosmos DB.
