1901 Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Windows Systems Engineer to support our Blacksburg Virginia Enterprise IT Operations Center. Primary Responsibilities
- Windows System Administration:
- Design, implement, and proficiently administer Windows Server versions (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022), Microsoft Azure, AWS, M365, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Hyper-V, PKI, GPO, and file/print services.
- PowerShell Scripting:
- Demonstrate advanced-level proficiency in reading and writing PowerShell scripts to automate tasks and enhance system efficiency.
- Compliance and Security Collaboration:
- Collaborate with security teams to establish and uphold compliance standards, utilizing frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks and DISA, ensuring a robust security posture.
- Technology Integration and Recommendations:
- Assess, install, and recommend innovative technologies encompassing databases, systems management, server virtualization, network storage, and security measures.
- Client/Server Architecture Mastery:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Client/Server Architecture and deploy solutions securely within internal and external environments.
- Documentation and Process Management:
- Create and maintain in-house documentation for standardized processes, encompassing disaster recovery procedures and common issue resolution methods.
- Multi-Location Operations:
- Collaborate within a hybrid, multi-location operations team to administer and support existing production environments.
- Patch and Security Management:
- Execute patching and security configuration activities, ensuring servers and databases remain secure and up to date.
- Proactive Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor system health, performance, and operational trends, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to prevent incidents.
- Effective Communication:
- Exhibit strong communication skills, interacting with Executives, Managers, Peers, and Customers to convey technical information effectively.
- Incident Management:
- Handle support tickets, manage incidents, service requests, and problems throughout their entire lifecycle.
- Incident Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct thorough incident analysis to identify root causes and recommend potential solutions. Document status updates and communicate them to relevant stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor degree and 4 years’ experience or an Associate degree and 6 years’ experience, additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
- Competent in essential administration concepts around Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022.
- Experienced in DNS, DHCP, PKI, and GPO.
- In-depth knowledge of scripting with PowerShell.
- A US Citizen who can obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Obtain a baseline 8570 certification [(IAT Level II) CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP] within 3 months of start date.
- Familiar with ticketing systems and the value of good documentation.
- If applicant lives within 50 miles of Blacksburg, VA they will be required to work in the office 2 days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified in Microsoft technologies.
- DoD secret clearance.
- Security+ CE certification.
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 to 6 years of experience.
- AWS and/or Azure certifications.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
