The Senior Purchasing Specialist (Commodity Manager) role supports global procurement and supply chain functional areas of responsibility. The typical role is responsible for purchase order management activity in support of business or segment operations. The position has direct interface and acts as a liaison between suppliers and the organization. It may include working level leadership of purchasing team members.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead purchasing and order management activities to drive operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure supplier and purchase order accuracy of master data in ERP and supplier portal and update/change data/information as required; resolve supply disruption issues.
  • Conduct standard material cost reviews, cost variance/change analytics and execute action plans for cost management; update material cost standards and variances in ERP.
  • Understand material/commodity index models and cost their impact on total cost of ownership.
  • Execute approved value proposition/cost out projects.
  • Lead supplier part warranty recovery campaign efforts.
  • Participate in projects that drive performance and value capture through long term supply agreements.
  • Lead supplier performance recovery and supplier risk mitigation activities; attend and lead supplier delivery performance discussions internally and in supplier business reviews.
  • Lead mitigation of price increase threats and lead/support supplier negotiations.
  • Execute supplier readiness for product launches (in coordination with NPD if applicable); review new parts and execute launch readiness initiatives for mid/high impact programs.
  • Support new program launch readiness initiatives.
  • Participate in supply chain optimization initiatives to improve material flow and capture value or reduce waste in the supply chain.
  • Engage in category counsel initiatives.
  • Train and mentor purchasing coordinator and associate positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s degree with five (5) or more years of relevant experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to travel 10%.
  • Relevant industry related certifications.
  • Purchasing experience within the manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail.
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills, able to multi-task and prioritize competing requirements and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where requirements are constantly changing.
  • Experience and proficiency with various web-based software applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
