Grand Canyon University’s department of Student Engagement is seeking a Clubs & Organizations Coordinator to facilitate student success through programs and services connecting students to campus and community organizations, activities, civic engagement and other students. GCU has over 100 clubs and organizations. Clubs and Organizations provide students with the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers at GCU who share common academic goals and similar special interests. The clubs and organizations office help guide students to network and further personal or professional development through relationship building, peer-to-peer support and friendship – outside of the classroom.

Location: Main Campus

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm

What You Will Do:

  •  Student Leadership: Day-to-day oversight of the club’s program. Assists in identifying and developing student leaders. Provides leadership training to Club officers and representatives throughout the year. Generates new ideas and ways to engage club students and to improve engagement with existing Clubs. Serve as a professional mentor to students, assisting with conflict management, professional communication and leadership skills.
  • Coordination and Management: Coordinates, plans and implements related student activities on- and off-campus. Tracks club expenditures and maintains adherence to club budget. Conducts training for application software which tracks student engagement activity. Maintains an adequate inventory of necessary supplies for student leaders to market events and activities. Assists in developing Club policies and procedures in accordance with the University and departmental mission and philosophy. Evaluates effectiveness of Clubs Program, collects information and prepares reports. Communicates regularly with Club advisors and representatives to share information and resources; ensures website is updated regularly and accurately and keeps manuals and other written materials up to date.
  • GCU Community Liaison: Acts as participating Board Member of GCU Clubs. Represents the University, department and Clubs to external groups. Plans, facilitates and attends meetings related to Clubs, club students and student leadership.
  • Marketing and Communication: Overseeing club and student leader marketing, social media, posters and written advertisements are within GCU guidelines. Working with Student Engagement to develop content for Clubs and Organizations Office 

What You Will Have:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (business, education, social science, etc.) from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of (1) to three (3) years’ experience with clubs program coordination through colleges, community organizations, and/ or civic engagement preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience and education may be substituted upon supervisor’s approval.
  • Communication and Relationship Building: Outstanding communications skills, including verbal and written with a good command of the English language. Good relationship management skills and ability to work cohesively in a team environment requiring good social and interpersonal skills. Ability to foster a campus climate that is welcoming and supportive of the University’s diverse student body.
  • Pace and Style: Flexibility with varying work schedules including evenings, holidays and weekends when necessary. Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects of varying sizes and detail requirement. Meticulous with a keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Capable of working independently with minimal direction or oversight. Ability to cope with changing priorities, rolling deadlines and a fast-paced environment effectively.
  • Behaviors: An expectation of professionalism, coaching, guiding and mentoring students is required. Helping students navigate conflict resolution and problem solving using mentor techniques. Having a high level of discernment and judgement in a variety of situations. Inspiring and encouraging collaboration between teams and groups.
  • Technology: Computer proficiency including email, internet, MS Office Suite, and other software applications. Experience with Hootsuite or other social media and marketing planner preferred. Canva and Calendly experience helpful.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
