Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Bureau of Cancer Prevention and Control leads efforts to reduce the burden of cancer across New York State by funding community prevention programs, health systems interventions, and working collaboratively with national, state, and local partners. The bureau is comprised of a dedicated team of public health professionals and staff who work to reduce the burden of cancer for all New Yorkers.  We are looking for a motivated and organized individual who will assume the Administrative Aide position. This position will provide administrative assistance and support across the bureau programs. The position will assist with recruitment, travel and purchasing, email follow up and data entry. The position will be responsible for phone coverage which includes responding to callers in a professional and courteous manner and covering for other bureau’s lines when needed.  

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and one year of general office, secretarial, or administrative experience; OR three years of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience providing support to directors and/or managers. Experience collaborating with multiple units. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Demonstrated, strong organizational skills. Demonstrated, strong communication skills. Experience providing customer service.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
