The Damage Prevention Program Specialist primarily focuses on the development of Damage Prevention Program components including operational controls, program documentation, effectiveness assessment, internal and external reporting, attending internal and external audits and inspections. Area of responsibility is GTM US and Canada.

What You Will Do:

  • Support the Damage Prevention Supervisor in the continuous improvement of the Damage Prevention Program

  • Compile and report Damage Prevention data and metrics for internal and external reporting

  • Collaborate with Field Operations, Pipeline Integrity, Lands and ROW and other functional groups to ensure regulatory compliance for area of responsibility

  • Ensures the GTM Management of Change Processes are applied effectively.

  • Participate in Assurance program through self assessment and inspection activities as required

  • Participate in various internal and external Damage Prevention related audits

  • Participate in compliance and effectiveness reviews of the Damage Prevention Program, its components and processes

  • Provide advisory support in the development of damage prevention related training as necessary

  • Familiar with incident investigation techniques, developing and implementing corrective and preventative action plans

  • Familiar with surveillance and monitoring processes such as Aerial Patrols, Gas leakage Surveys, Depth of Cover Surveys

  • Familiar with Ground Disturbance best practices and regulatory requirements

  • Familiar with CER – OPR and DPR O/A

  • Familiar with 49 CFR Part 192 Damage Prevention regulatory requirements

Required:

  • Related University degree and minimum 4 years experience or minimum 8 years of previous field operations/damage prevention experience or equivalent mix of formal education and experience

  • Knowledge of CER and US State and Federal Regulations

  • Effective communication style – strong written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Ability to work in a self-guided, independent environment, managing multiple tasks in a time sensitive environment

  • Solid team player who is able to work with a wide range of partners

  • Proven conceptual, relationship building, organizational, communication and decision making skills

  • Proficient in MS Office applications

  • University Education

  • Field related experience is an asset

  • Experience interacting with Regulators

  • Knowledge of industry networks and associations

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be conducted mainly in the office environment

  • Minimal Travel

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
