The Product Owner is a key member of the solution delivery team, working closely with the Product Manager and business stakeholders to understand business objectives and ensure solutions have strategic alignment and business value. They are responsible for guiding the agile team throughout the development process by defining goals, maintaining the backlog and delivering solutions that fulfill business needs.

What you’ll be doing:

  • act as subject matter expert for your product and extract business value
  • proactively obtain feedback to ensure end user value is being delivered
  • define overall product vision, strategy and validation criteria
  • collaborate with the Product Manager and provide input into the roadmap
  • engage with stakeholders, business partners and your agile team in scope definition, dependency creation, and requirements refinement
  • define project goals, sprint/iteration objectives and user acceptance tests
  • manage and prioritize the agile team’s backlog and acceptance criteria
  • active role in mitigating impediments
  • coordinate with teams to plan and execute product releases
  • assess risks and benefits of product enhancements and gain alignment with stakeholders, business partners, and product managers

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner
  • Certified Product Owner (PMPO preferred)
  • knowledge of agile methodologies (SAFe preferred)
  • 2 to 5 years of supervisory experience
  • solid understanding of the insurance industry is a plus
  • ability to build strong relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams 
  • experience in agile and scrum development organization, writing Epics, Features and User Stories and defining process flows
  • proven ability in translating business needs into product specifications and understanding business applications from a functional and technical perspective
  • experience collaborating with cross-functional agile teams to develop, execute and release in alignment with business priorities 
  • strong communication skills conveying difficult concepts and negotiating with others to adopt a different point of view 
  • ability to prioritize and make business value driven decisions
  • familiarity with the Atlassian product suite (JIRA, Confluence)
