Position Summary
As the Technical Lead of the System and Business Analyst Group, you will act as both a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor, blending people management with expert-level analytical work. In addition to leading and mentoring the team, you will directly produce high-quality analytical deliverables, help team members to resolve complex issues, and set a gold standard for the team.
This role requires someone with a deep understanding of system and business analysis, a proven ability to deliver expert-level work, and strong leadership skills to drive the team and projects toward success.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and People Management
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of system and business analysts, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture.
- Set individual and team goals, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
- Oversee career development for team members by identifying skill gaps, recommending training opportunities, and creating growth pathways.
- Ensure resource allocation aligns with project requirements and company priorities, assigning appropriate analysts to each project based on skill sets and workload.
- Promote a positive work environment, encouraging open communication, diversity, and mutual respect.
Hands-On Contribution and Problem Resolution
- Serve as a "playing trainer" by directly producing expert-level analytical artifacts, including requirements documents, functional specifications, and API designs.
- Step in to resolve complex issues or roadblocks faced by team members, ensuring projects stay on track and high-quality standards are maintained.
- Lead by example in requirements gathering, systems analysis, and documentation to establish best practices within the team.
- Drive the resolution of challenging technical problems through research, collaboration, and innovation.
Strategic Planning and Department Management
- Define and implement the strategy for the analytical department, ensuring alignment with company objectives and emerging industry trends.
- Develop and maintain processes, methodologies, and best practices for business and system analysis within the team.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to provide insights into the company’s long-term and medium-term project pipelines.
- Establish and supervise knowledge exchange initiatives, including training sessions, peer reviews, and collaborative problem-solving exercises.
Quality Assurance and Project Oversight
- Conduct high-level supervision of all company projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with project goals.
- Review and assess the work delivered by analysts, providing constructive feedback to maintain high standards of quality.
- Perform peer reviews of functional specifications, data mappings, API designs, and other key deliverables.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to analysis and requirements, ensuring that project outcomes align with customer expectations.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between analysts, architects, technical leads, and project managers to ensure consistent communication and alignment across teams.
- Partner with product development, engineering, and QA teams to deliver robust solutions that meet customer and market needs.
- Provide technical oversight and high-level guidance for requirements gathering, system design, and process optimizations.
Required Skills and Experience
Leadership & Management
- Proven experience leading a team of system and business analysts, with a track record of delivering high-quality outputs in a collaborative environment.
- Exceptional mentoring, coaching, and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Strong resource management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and allocate team members effectively.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of system analysis, requirements gathering, and functional specification development.
- Strong analytical skills in networking, databases, systems architecture, and API design.
- Proven ability to produce expert-level documentation and deliverables for large-scale, complex projects.
- Proficiency in modeling and design tools (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect, PlantUML) and documentation best practices.
- General understanding of data processing, client/server architectures, software development processes, and communications protocols.
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Communication & Strategy
- Exceptional English communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation), capable of engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
- Demonstrated success in optimizing requirements for minimal budget and fastest delivery (MVP development).
- Experience defining and executing a strategic vision for a technical department or team.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Background in product development or prior experience leading an analytical team.
- Knowledge of the digital television or media technology industry, including interactive television standards and features.
- Familiarity with database architectures, data mappings, and system integrations.
- Experience with advanced Agile methodologies and cross-functional team collaboration.
- Proven track record of improving processes for better efficiency and quality in system analysis or product development.
