Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Space Module Specialist B to join our Linthicum, MD facility.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform assembly operations necessary for build-up of completed electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies.

WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:
PERFORM WORK OF EQUAL OR LOWER SKILL LEVEL AS REQUIRED.

1. Working from pictorial sketches, detailed military and Westinghouse specifications, detailed engineers instructions, and written and oral instructions perform the following operations on both production and experimental hardware:
2. Alignment and Mounting - assemble alignment plates, ceramic carriers, and components in designated order applying adhesives in proper amounts and locations, maintaining specified dimensions. Mix special adhesives material in stated amounts.
3. Wirebonding - interpret pictorial wiring sketches and other written information in preparation for the operation of wire bonders. Follow approved techniques in making routine minor equipment adjustments and preparing hardware for modifications.
4. Soldering - Perform soldering operations requiring precise connections such as surface mount and microwave assemblies.
5. Visually check assemblies after each operation to verify process and detect damage and submit for quality check.
6. Make indicated repairs such as adding, removing and replacing lids, chips, wire bonds, adhesives and the like.
7. Perform various mechanical assembly operations such as chassis assembly, lead forming, tooling assembly.
8. Capable of operating electronic data collection systems and personal computers. Collect, record, and calculate data. Perform corrective action based on standard adjustments.
9. Assist engineering personnel in developing new or revised designs, processes and operations techniques by performing requested operations and providing required information from trail runs. Participate in Design Reviews and suggest improvements for manufacturability. Participate in self-directed work teams. Communicate with internal customer assigned to project to clarify and
simplify assembly processes.
10. Perform lidding operations, arranging preforms, lids and packages in proper form, clamping in carriers.
11. Cut wafers into chips using mechanical scribing or sawing equipment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • High school graduate or recognized equivalent. Two semesters (minimum of six
    credits) of technically oriented college instruction (e.g. Chemistry, Electronics,
    Mathematics, etc.)
    ** or 3 years of industrial electronics experience in lieu of college course work

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

  • Two years of electronics assembly or test experience.

  • Training and certification required per OMIS Q1 11.
