Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Cyber Systems Engineer Level 1 or 2 to support the Systems Engineering organization in San Diego, CA. The selected candidate will support Development, Production and Sustainment programs and will identify cybersecurity risks and design, develop, integrate, test, and verify system security solutions within the program portfolio.
The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting the team in identifying cybersecurity risks, developing a technical and programmatic plan for remediation, and driving the incorporation of cybersecurity improvements into the weapon system.
Essential Functions:
- The SSE will report within the Systems Engineering Integration Team (SEIT) organization to support cybersecurity tasks and help ensure systems are secure.
- The SSE will support cybersecurity and assessment and authorization tasks defined by the Department of Defense (DoD) guidelines.
- The SSE will perform ACAS, SCAP, and STIG verifications on development and production systems both locally and at remote sites.
- The SSE will assist in the preparation of security documentation.
- The SSE will work with the Cybersecurity team to enhance the security of the system and share knowledge to improve overall security practices.
- This role is hybrid and will require up to 25% travel in support of enterprise SSE needs.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help identify potential cybersecurity risks through various assessments and exercises.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments: Participate in identifying and analyzing vulnerabilities in the system.
- Assist in creating documents needed for system security authorization.
- Completion of ACAS, SCAP, and STIG verification in local labs and remote sites: Ensure thorough and accurate security checks in various environments.
- Work to ensure that security measures are properly implemented and verified.

Basic Qualifications:
- Associate Cyber Systems Engineer consideration (Level 1): Bachelor's Degree in STEM field and 0 years of experience.
- Cyber Systems Engineer (Level 2): Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited university and 2 years of relevant engineering experience OR 0 years with Master's Degree in STEM Field.
- Active Secret DoD clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with technical security controls and the Risk Management Framework (RMF) as defined by NIST standards.
- DoD 8570 IASAE Level II certification (e.g., Security+) or willingness to achieve this certification within a reasonable timeframe to meet business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in implementing cybersecurity scanning and assessment tools like ACAS or Nessus
- Direct coursework
- Degree in Cybersecurity
- DoD 8570 IASAE Level III Certification (e.g., CISSP)
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts
- Understanding of systems engineering concepts for military/weapons systems
