At HubSpot, we have been on an incredible journey building world-class CRM, Marketing, Sales, and Services products that help millions of businesses grow better.

The HubSpot Security Automated Assurance group is responsible for the automation of compliance, privacy, and risk processes at HubSpot.

Within the team, engineers build systems that integrate with HubSpot’s internal and external services to collect, review, and report on evidence that demonstrates the effectiveness of our security program.

In the last year, the Security Automated Assurance group has started a greenfield project aimed at rebuilding all of our automation tools with a focus on scalability and better UX. The goal is to help HubSpot with the increasing amount of frameworks we want to be compliant with in order to open up new markets, evolve the way we sell and better serve customers' needs when it comes to security and compliance.

There are 20 engineers currently in the group and we’re looking to hire our first Staff Software Engineer. This is a backend focused role (we use Java) but fluency on frontend (TypeScript/React) would also be a plus. Our team is mostly located in EMEA, with members in Ireland, the UK, and Germany.

Staff Software Engineers are highly productive, impactful, and trusted engineers who leverage their skills and knowledge to work autonomously on the most complex projects and set technical direction. Very complex problems can include those that are very broad, very deep, or problems that require spanning across many teams.

As a Staff Software Engineer on Security Automated Assurance, you will:

  • Write and ship production code that has meaningful user and business impact
  • Envision, build and analyze new features and tools contributing to reducing the time required for implementing and maintaining compliance frameworks
  • Work with a small cross-functional team of engineers where autonomy and flexibility are highly valued
  • Collaborate with HubSpotters all over the company, whether in engineering, product, design, research, marketing, sales, etc
  • Get exposure to how HubSpot works as a business

We’re not just looking for engineers with many years of experience. Instead we’re looking for engineers who also have a track record of unique excellence, leadership, and leveling up those around them. Check out our engineering blog here to learn more.

What we’d like to see:

  • A passion for clean, scalable code and for product feature development and product innovation.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the team to solve problems, transfer knowledge, and develop overall product architecture.
  • Coaching and mentorship experience.
  • A track record in partnering successfully with recruiting to build remarkable engineering teams.

We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates, so please don’t hesitate to apply — we’d love to hear from you.

At HubSpot, we value both flexibility and connection. Whether you’re a Remote employee, or work from the Office, we want you to start your journey here by building strong connections with your team and peers.

If you are joining our Engineering team in a full-time role, you will be required to attend a regional HubSpot office for in-person onboarding. If you join our broader Product team, you’ll also attend other in-person events such as HubSpot’s annual PEER week, your Product Group Summit, and other in-person gatherings to continue building on those connections.

If you require an accommodation due to travel limitations or other reasons, please inform your recruiter during the hiring process. We are committed to supporting candidates who may need alternative arrangements.
