Assist in ensuring compliance and consistency in the administration of policies and procedures as well as providing support to assigned functional areas on talent acquisition, employee relations and performance management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Note: Other duties may be assigned)

  • Assist in administering Human Resources policies and procedures and benefit and compensation programs in accordance with company guidelines and federal and state employment regulations
  • Process day-to-day employee transactions including inputting and updating changes and maintaining data in HRIS system
  • Maintain Human Resources helpdesk for retail field inquiries
  • Assist in the tracking and reporting of HR metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of compliance reports (i.e., OFCCP Outreach, I-9, ACA, etc.)
  • Serve as a liaison to Payroll
  • Proactively formulate ideas and recommendations for system improvements working closely with HRIS team
  • Assist with recruiting activities; responsible for job posting and onboarding of all new associates as well as timely fulfillment of seasonal staffing needs
  • Assist in HR processes within assigned functional areas including leave of absences, performance management,  employee relations and employee engagement
  • Serve as a resource to management on routine employee issues
  • Foster and maintain relationships with employees and management to cultivate a positive work environment based on the company's core values
  • Assist in the coordination of employee events and activities

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree in human resources, business or related field required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior human resources experience preferred

  • Ability to act as a Brand Ambassador consistently modeling and upholding the Vera Bradley Core Values
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws such FMLA, ADAAA, Title VII, etc.
  • Diplomacy required as liaison between management and employees
  • Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office including working knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Confidential and dependable
  • Strong analytic and problem solving ability
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent organization and follow through skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers and handle situations with confidence, tact and resourcefulness
  • Flexible, adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast paced office environment
  • Strong team player with positive demeanor
