About the Role

Workday is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Federal Government Marketing to drive our marketing efforts in the federal government space. This role will be a critical partner to our sales team, ensuring alignment with sales priorities, developing revenue-driven marketing strategies, and creating an integrated plan to gain market share and grow our customer base in the federal sector. The Director will lead the charge in generating awareness, demand, and pipeline growth by demonstrating a variety of marketing vehicles and tactics, and will play a pivotal role in moving accounts through the sales pipeline and accelerating the sales cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Alignment: Partner closely with Federal sales leadership to understand go-to-market (G2M) priorities and develop a comprehensive marketing plan that aligns with the strategic 3-year long-range plan.

  • Campaign Development: Lead the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, including demand generation, reputation management, engagement, and enablement programs tailored to the federal government market.

  • Content and Messaging: Collaborate with solution marketing to develop and refine messaging, content, and stories that resonate with key decision-makers and influencers in the federal sector.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with a wide range of teams, including digital marketing, creative services, customer advocacy, field marketing, and paid media, to optimize the marketing mix across channels and drive pipeline conversion.

  • Program Management: Lead all aspects of the creation and execution of marketing programs, ensuring they are set up correctly in marketing tools (Salesforce, Marketo, Tableau, etc.), and monitor their effectiveness and goal attainment.

  • Budget Management: Lead and monitor program spend, ensuring budget decisions are optimized to meet quarterly and yearly targets.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze program results and performance trends, providing recommendations for optimization and making data-driven decisions to improve outcomes.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Present key programs and assets to internal collaborators, including product marketing and sales teams, and coordinate efforts with external partners.

About You

You are a strategic problem solver who can also complete tactical details, and you have a proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams. Your experience in the public sector, combined with your ability to analyze data and make informed decisions, will be critical in driving Workday's success in the federal government space.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of integrated government marketing experience in the cloud/SaaS industry, with a focus on planning and driving impactful demand generation programs. Knowledge of security and AI marketing would be an asset.

  • Proven track record of effectively driving integrated marketing programs on both strategic and tactical levels.

  • Experience working directly with sales leadership to build and manage a pipeline.

  • Strong ability to work across groups and achieve results with both internal and external constituents.

Other Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

  • Client-service approach with a passion for solving challenges.

  • Shown ability to multitask and lead multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience running and leading a regional budget independently.

  • Proficiency in marketing tools such as Salesforce, Marketo, Tableau, Demandbase, Drift, Integrate, Workfront, and Highspot.

  • Creative problem solver who brings new ideas to the table.

  • Strong initiative and a "can-do" attitude.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
